"Uyai", meaning beauty in Ibibio, is a striking exploration of identity and self-perception. The painting depicts a nude woman gazing into a fragmented, dripping mirror, her reflection distorted, symbolizing the fluidity of self-image. Nsibidi symbols adorns her arm, embedding ancestral wisdom onto her skin, while Adire and Ankara  fabric forms her intricate headwrap, weaving cultural identity into the composition. A bold feathered collar enhances her presence, evoking regality and transformation. Set against a vibrant orange Aso-Oke  background, the expressive linework and textured elements create movement and depth. Through its fusion of Nsibidi, Aso-Oke, and mixed media, "Uyai" challenges conventional beauty standards, urging a deeper look beyond the surface into heritage and self-awareness.
